80s Reclad
With the original siding poorly detailed and rotting, these clients were eager to give their residence a facelift. But our exterior remodel of this 1980's modern house went well below the surface.
The project began by super-insulating the north wall beneath the siding and sheathing, giving the home an efficiency boost to match the aesthetic one. The new cladding scheme takes its cues from the building's forms and the client's love of art: colored stucco, metal panels, natural wood and playful forms like sculptural vents that project from the siding. The overall effect is whimsical yet sophisticated—a refreshing update to a unique structure.
