Dave’s Brewfarm

This unique craft brewery and organic CSA farm is owned by husband-and-wife team Pam and Dave. Two weekends a month, the Brewfarm opens its doors for tasting and growler sales. Testament to Dave’s brewing skills, these tastings have become so popular that they’ve run out of space in the brewery to accommodate the crowd. ALM Design Studio was asked to help design a new “barn” for these tastings.

Much of the material for the new pour house will be salvaged from a nearby barn. Salvaged timber bents will frame the hall and pay tribute to the former structure, along with salvaged barn windows and siding cladding the exterior. Features include a clerestory cupola on the roof to bring light into the core the building and a solar hot-water in-floor system to provide a base for heating. During the cold season, a large masonry heater will be used to bring the ambient temperature to a comfortable level.
